Caring for Carers East Coast

Caring for Carers East Coast is a support service for unpaid family carers who look after an adult or child with a serious illness, learning disorder or disability. If you are a carer and feel you are runnning on empty sometimes, give us a call or come along to one of our monthly meetings.

Home Based Restorative Support

Enliven's home-based restorative support services are tailored to meet the needs of older people (65+) who are living in their own home.

In Hawkes Bay we are contracted by Hawke's Bay District Health Board to support older people with high needs who have been referred to us by the local Needs Assessment and Service Co-ordination (NASC) agency.

After consultation with each client individually tailored programmes of support are developed for them by a registered nurse in association with a physiotherapist and/or occupational therapist. The restorative programme that results invariably involves the integration of physical activity. Services, which can be delivered up to three times a day, seven days a week, are provided by highly trained Key Support Workers.

There is no fixed list of services, but a service package may include:

Goal-based planning individually tailored to meet your personal needs and what is important to you
Rehabilitation to assist you in regaining skills, mobility, confidence
Activities to ensure you stay as independent as you can
Physical exercises based around daily living activities to keep you physically active
Practical support to keep your household up and running
Personal care based on your individual needs
Regular liaison with doctors, nurses and other health professionals to make sure that you are getting the very best support and the help that is right for you.

Enliven Respite

Enliven Respite is a Presbyterian Support East Coast initiative that offers day respite for people over 65 years (over 55 years for Maori and Pacific people).

Some things make for a happier healthy life no matter what your age:

Friends, family whanau - people you love who love you back
Being able to give and receive
A home of your own choosing
Being able to make good decisions for yourself
And, most of all practical support, when, how and where you need it most.

Enliven Respite offers

Community based day respite
Disability friendly environment
Trained staff
A range of informative and recreational activities
A programme to keep you physically active
A nutritious two course lunch.

Enliven Active Club offers

A range of informative and recreational activities
A programme to keep you physically active.

We welcome people who:

Want to remain active and independent
Are over 65 (or over 55yrs for Maori & Pacific people).

(Other criteria apply: please contact Enliven for more information).

Enliven Active Club is funded by Presbyterian Support East Coast; however there is a small charge of $4 per session.
Lunch is available at your own cost.

Gisborne: 10:00am - 3:00pm Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Waipawa: 10:00am - 3:00pm Wednesdays.
